Do you enjoy discussing complex issues with folks from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds to try to create a more just and regenerative world? The SEED Undergraduate Fellowship Program is a year-long sustainability leadership program that challenges students to explore diverse perspectives, create meaningful relationships, develop a critical consciousness and serve as positive agents of sustainability.
Read and learn about sustainability and leadership
Design, build and launch a sustainability impact project
Build relationships with sustainability resesarchers, practitioners and leaders
SEED Undergraduate Fellows will leave the program not only with the title "Regis SEED Fellow" on their resume, but more importantly with an impact project, practical leadership tools, extensive sustainability knowledge and connections with each other and other sustainability practitioners who may be potential employers.
Undergraduate Fellows are required to take one 3-credit class in the fall and one 3-credit class in the spring (BA4430/BA4431). This Fellowship is a commitment to a community of learners and practitioners who want to change the world for the better – it will require time, dedication and enthusiasm.
The Undergraduate Fellowship is recommended for students considering careers or further education in diverse fields including business, health care, education, journalism, sciences, government, nonprofit work and technology – we not only welcome all perspectives, but believe they are the key to creative and unique solutions.
The Undergraduate Fellowship Program is available to students with sophomore standing or above. Interested students must submit an application to the program.

Major: Peace & Justice Studies and Sociology
Hometown: Lakewood, CO
Graduation Year: 2026
Sustainability Focus/Interests: When it comes to sustainability and climate justice, I am most interested in the ways that climate change intersects with the issues of human rights violations and institutional injustices. I hope to learn about the ways, from small personal actions to long-term plans, we can combat the displacement of humans, animals and all things on earth. The SEED fellowship welcomes students from all majors to collaborate, and I look forward to understanding this topic through an interdisciplinary approach.
Major: Communication
Hometown: Lakewood, CO
Graduation Year: 2026
Sustainability Focus/Interests: This is my first time diving into ways to practice sustainability, and I haven't had much experience with sustainability. I also liked the fact that this class used marketing to help reach out to others about sustainability, and that is something that is in relation to the field I want to go into with media marketing. I hope to learn positive ways to keep the environment healthy and to practice sustainability some more!
Major: Peace and Justice/Environmental Studies
Hometown: Arvada, CO
Graduation Year: 2025
Sustainability Focus/Interests: Studying abroad in South Korea last semester gave me the chance to engage with many students from Europe, Asia and Mexico on how their home countries address climate issues. These conversations were fascinating and deepened my understanding of global perspectives on sustainability. This life-changing experience inspired me to pursue work on an international scale, fostering diplomacy and cooperation to address modern environmental challenges.
Major: Environmental Science
Hometown: Monument, CO
Graduation Year: 2025
Sustainability Focus/Interests: As someone who has spent her entire life camping, hiking, and generally being outdoors in the natural world, I have grown a fondness for everything nature has. I am interested in keeping our forests standing and our oceans clean, in practicing sustainability, and in teaching the importance of it all to everyone I can. As a SEED Fellow, I hope to leave every place better than I found it, implement sustainable practices everywhere I go, and in general learn as much as I can about caring for our environment, especially as climate change threatens us. We need more leaders in this field to lead, and that is what I hope to get out of this fellowship, and to use those leadership skills to help others.

Sustainability Focus/Interests: Being a first-generation student can mean a lot of things. For me, it means that I get the opportunity to learn about things that maybe have not always been accessible to the generations before me. It means that I get to change the world by embracing my identity and taking pride in the changes I make. However, it is really hard to change a world that is not there. Being sustainable not only applies to recycling or climate change, but it also applies to the communities built upon this planet. Through the SEED Fellow program, I hope to find resources that discuss the importance of building safe communities among all the different people across the world, so that it is both physically and socially safer to be who you are unapologetically and without hesitation. This is the main goal of my program, Sprouting Change, the idea that you are allowed to take up space in this world, so you can spread your roots and ideas, build community, and make it a better place to be. Seeds are meant to sprout.
Major: Business Administration
Minor: Environmental Studies
Hometown: Littleton, CO
Graduation Year: 2027
Sustainability Focus/Interests: I am deeply passionate about sustainability and firmly believe it is the only way forward. To demonstrate this passion, I serve as the Sustainability Senator and Eco-Spirituality Leader at Regis University. I am committed to learning how I can contribute to making the world a better place, and I see sustainability as a powerful way to achieve that goal.

Sustainability Focus/Interests: I joined the SEED fellowship as a result of my desire to help contribute to a more sustainable business environment. I am particularly drawn to the topics of extreme poverty and public health. I currently work in business development with a medical device start-up company developing remote monitoring devices for patients in underserved and impoverished communities. Being a part of this company has provided tremendous insight into the public health crises faced by those living in impoverished communities, and how environmental crises exacerbate already existing issues involving diminished access to quality healthcare. Regarding my personal contributions to the program, I feel that I provide a unique perspective on the role of innovation and enterprise in tackling the environmental challenges of today. I currently serve as the student director for the Regis University Innovation Challenge, where we help grow and foster innovative business ideas. I feel this experience has provided me a perspective grounded in innovation-based solutions, and how enterprise can help contribute to a more sustainable global community.
Major: Environmental Studies
Minor: Anthropology
Hometown: St. Louis, MO
Graduation Year: 2027
Sustainability Focus/Interests: I hope to combine my environmental major with my anthropology minor to invoke social and environmental change. I'm interested in environmental racism and helping create proactive plans that can help poverty stricken communities, minorities and third world countries combat distribution and participatory injusticies. This program will bring me a step closer to doing that.
Major: English and Psychology
Minor: Spanish
Hometown: Parker, CO
Graduation Year: 2025
Sustainability Focus/Interests: I am passionate about creating a more sustainable world due to the utmost importance it holds in addressing various social justice issues. I believe that each of us has a responsibility to play a role in fostering a sustainable future, as well as recognizing and uplifting the knowledge and practices of communities that have long understood how to live in harmony with the environment. Creating a better environment requires a shift in how we view our relationship with the planet and with one another. It requires amplifying voices that have long been marginalized, incorporating Indigenous wisdom into modern sustainability practices, and taking bold action to mitigate the effects of climate change while supporting those who are most affected. Only by fostering a world grounded in respect, equity and shared responsibility can we create a sustainable future for all.
Through her project, SEED Fellow Riona McGuire illustrates key sustainability topics, from food production to the impact of climate change on the oceans, offering valuable insights for a more sustainable future.
